Science
The nuclear industry has always employed some of the most brilliant and inquisitive scientific minds, who have gone on to be major players in the industry, following careers in research and development, site management and operational projects.
Whether you want to follow a career in research, be a technical specialist or work in management, joining nucleargraduates offers you a world of possibilities. Our science division focuses on the science, safety and environmental areas of the nuclear sector. Using theoretical and applied elements of your course, you’ll take on the many scientific and environmental challenges that occur on different nuclear sites.
Environmentally, the nuclear industry has always faced huge challenges: if only down to the huge scale of the work that needs to be done on site. Our sites are equal in size and challenge to other chemical, oil or gas plants. But working in a highly regulated environment means best practice is our minimum standard.
If you’re from an environmental science, physical sciences or radiation sciences background, your knowledge carries real weight on site. Our environmental sustainability work ranges from impact assessment and improvement to the wider issues of environmental management right through to corporate strategy.
For both scientists and environmental scientists, now is the time to become involved in the nuclear industry. You can make a lasting difference: whether by finding innovative solutions in leaving a positive nuclear legacy or pioneering new technology in energy generation and site decommissioning.
Science roles include Applied Research, Safety Management, Technical Support, Scientific Technician, Support Services Scientist and Project Management.
