Sellafield Ltd is the company responsible for safely delivering, decommissioning and reprocessing nuclear waste, as well as manufacturing fuel on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.
Now under the ownership of Nuclear Management partners, Sellafield Ltd has the largest concentration of nuclear expertise in Europe – and boasts over 50 years of experience. Across the business they are carrying out some of the most innovative and complex nuclear activities in the world.
The company has sites at Sellafield in Cumbria and Capenhurst in Cheshire, as well as an extensive engineering design capability based at Risley in Warrington.
The site at Sellafield is spread across six square miles and is home to more than 1,000 facilities. These facilities perform a wide range of tasks, which include decommissioning the UK’s nuclear legacy, fuel recycling, manufacturing and the management of low, high and intermediate level nuclear waste.
Sellafield’s proud heritage also includes the development of the world’s first commercial nuclear power station, Calder Hall.
